Play #37 Florida vs Houston Goaltending

The crew is in great position to referee this play and makes slight position adjustments to obtain and maintain open looks as this play drives down the center side lane line.

After the shot attempt and while the ball is in the cylinder it is contacted by the defense. There was no violation called and play continued. Note that a head coach may only challenge a called basket interference or goaltending violation until the final two minutes. So in this instance a challenge would not be legal. It is also important to know that the officials could use the monitor to determine if a basket interference or goaltending call is correct only when a call has been made on the floor under the following procedures:

Immediate review - If after a call on the floor of basket interference or goaltending has been made, an official can immediately review the call only in the cases listed below. When the call on the floor is reversed because of the review, the official must determine if there was team possession when the call was made and award the ball to the team in possession. Otherwise, team possession will be determined by the alternating possession arrow. When the official’s decision is confirmed by Instant Replay review, the game clock shall be reset to the time remaining when the violation occurred. When the Instant Replay review indicates that no violation occurred, the game clock shall be reset to the time that the official thought the violation occurred. Immediate review can only be used in the following situations:

  1. Voluntary use by the officials, only during the last two minutes of the second period or the entirety of any overtime period. In this part of the game, the correctable error time frame in Rule 2-12.3 must be used.
  2. A coach's challenge "Rule 11-4".
