Play BreakDown
Play #4 Gonzaga vs UCLA Rough Post Play / Back Down
Stop the clip with 25sec left on the game clock in the first half and the shot clock in the final 10sec of the possession
Foul count is even but we donβt want to miss anything obvious going into the half
Ball is passed to the short corner in front of the Center
Center, position adjust if needed to referee the on ball defender
Trail, there is nothing competitive in your primary so have a big picture mentality and locate the secondary defenders in your primary that could come over as a help defender
Lead, recognize empty ball side block, referee secondary defenders in your primary that may provide help defense on drives
This is the Centers play. As the offensive player starts to back down his defender equal contact is created by both players on the initial couple bumps but recognize that it becomes too physical by the defender as the play gets to the lane line which should've resulted in a foul.
A couple teaching points here
Understand your primary areas of coverage
A defensive post player may use a forearm on the back of an offensive post player with or without the ball as long as equal pressure is being applied and there is no dislodging by either player.
