Dead ball officiating is huge in our game. We must have our eyes on the players at all times. When the whistle sounds, we cannot relax! The key teaching point from this clip is that we need the off ball referee to stay back and watch the benches and make sure no one comes running in. The two referees with handle the scrum, the other referee will watch the benches. Don’t rely pm the monitor to be a crutch on this type of plays. Someone needs to know who left both benches, not just the bench the camera was on. On this play, we have a common foul on Black #13 for holding. Then we have double Dead Ball Contact technicals on Black #13 and Red #24. The technical fouls will offset, and we will play from the point of interruption which is the common foul.
